Upcoming Events and Exhibitions at Clay Art Center
The weather is starting to warm up, the flowers are in bloom, and things are busy at Clay Art Center. Our spring session started this week with new and returning students working on the wheel, handbuilding, mold making, and experimenting with different raku techniques. If you have always wanted to try ceramics but haven’t had a chance yet, now is the time to attend a one-time wheel or handbuilding class. Also make sure you are looking ahead to summer: summer camp registration is now open and summer class registration will be happening soon.
The Clay Art Center community has been hard at work making bowls for our Empty Bowls fundraiser at Rye Presbyterian Church on May 22. Come join us to purchase bowls, enjoy some soup, and support the Carver Center and Meals on Main Street.
We are unpacking boxes of work by new artists and new work by current CAC artists for our upcoming New Arrivals Shop event. Pieces from this event will be available online and in the store starting May 20. From May 20 to June 10, in-person shoppers will receive 10% off their purchase so come look for gifts for graduations, weddings, birthdays, or yourself!
Throughout the month of June, we will be honoring Pride Month with tender / queer, a virtual exhibition curated by artist Dustin Yager. Join us on June 13 to hear more from Dustin and some of the participating artists in a virtual artist talk.
On Saturday, June 25 from 4-6pm we will be celebrating the artistic achievements of our resident artists at the opening of their summer exhibitions. I have had the chance to peek in their studios and know this is an exhibition you can’t miss! If you can’t make it for the opening, be sure to come to the gallery before August 4 to view the exhibit.
With so much going on at Clay Art Center we hope to see you soon!
