LETTER TO THE CLAY ART COMMUNITY:

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Dale Oberlander, and like many of you I am a student at CAC. I am also co-chairing this year’s Hand in Hand event. While most of you have no idea who I am, if you are receiving this note, I know we are already friends.  We are friends because we are all cut from a similar cloth; kindred spirits who don’t mind getting our hands and clothes dirty. Friends who walk the streets with white clumps in our hair and dusty shoes. As friends we celebrate our successes, soothe each other’s failures, help solve glazing mysteries and share our tools. We all experience the same joy and frustrations that comes from working with clay and not everyone is like us.

As a friend, I want to encourage all of you to join us for this year’s Hand in Hand fundraising event on October 16^th. Clay Arts Center needs us to come together to support the community and institution we all love so much. With your help we will continue to offer the wonderful classes and workshops, both in person and remotely, as well as provide affordable or free access to those who can benefit the most.

It is my sincere honor to help serve our community of artists, students, teachers, donors, board and staff. We are a strong and loving community of people who have a responsibility. We live in a world that is increasingly becoming technologically driven, sterile and isolated.  Institutions like CAC encourage people of all ages to come together, connect to the earth and enjoy sensory rich experiences that keep us whole.
