Clay Art Center Spring Classes

Looking to get creative this spring? Get centered with clay in one of Clay Art Center’s adult or youth spring term classes running May 1 – June 18, 2022.
Whether you are new to clay or an experienced potter, they have handbuilding, wheel throwing and special topic classes designed just for you.
There are an array of adult and youth multi-week and one-time classes to choose from.

Adult Classes

Clay Art Center is offering a selection of multi-week classes for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Whether you are new to clay or an experienced potter, they have handbuilding, wheel throwing and special topic classes designed for you.

Their introductory classes are designed for new students to explore all clay has to offer. Classes include Intro to Handbuilding, Intro to Wheel Throwing and Pottery for Beginners. These classes are offered nights and weekends. No experience necessary. Their beginner, intermediate and advanced classes allow students to explore new techniques and forms.

A variety of special topic classes and workshops for students of all levels who want to learn new skills and techniques will be offered such as: Adorned: Ceramic Jewelry Basics, Introduction to Colored Clay, Maiolica Workshop, Mold Making & Slip Casting, Raku Firing and more!

For a fun Friday night out with friends or a date, sign up for their one-time class, Maker Night (Ages 17+). Get messy as they walk you through the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel. Create a unique piece of pottery, then choose a glaze from their studio selection.
Pieces will be fired and available for pick up at a later date. Best of Westchester 2020 Winner “Best Artsy Night Out”. Maker Night is offered on Friday nights through June 17th.

Youth Classes (Ages 10 – 16) & Family Classes (Ages 6+)

Have your kids unplug with mud at their award-winning multi-week youth classes starting May 1st. Their popular Clay for Tweens (ages 10 – 12) and Clay for Teens (Ages 13 – 16) are fun and creative opportunities to explore a variety of functional pottery forms, wheel & handbuilding techniques and glazing. No experience necessary.
For a fun Saturday out with the whole family sign up for a one-time family class, Saturday Clay. Parents/Guardians & their children will explore their inner artists in this 2-hour introduction to clay.

Professional ceramic artists will guide themed weekly hand-building projects including special themed classes: Easter on April 16th and Mother’s Day Gifts on April 23rd. For ages 6 – 99. No experience necessary. Saturday Clay is offered every other Saturday from 2 – 4pm through June 18th.

Family Wheel Night is a one-time class for parents, kids, tweens or teens (Ages 10+) interested in learning to use the potter’s wheel.
Have fun and bond with your family while receiving a lesson from experienced and dedicated ceramic artists. Beginners are welcome and no previous experience is necessary! Family Wheel Night is offered every other Saturday from 6 – 8pm through June 18th.

Private Lessons
If you would like personal instruction on a more flexible schedule, private lessons are available for individuals and small groups. This is a great way to help you advance your handbuilding and wheel throwing skills.

Parties for Adults & Youth
Bring together a group of friends and/or family for a fun creative event. For adults plan a birthday party, team building exercise or check-in with friends. For kid’s ages 6 – teen - plan a birthday party, scout meeting, school event or weekly play date. Choose from a variety of handbuilding or wheel throwing (ages 10+) projects.
Partygoers will make pieces that will be fired and ready to take home at a later date.
