The Shop at Clay Art Center
Clay Art Center invites ceramic artists who are interested in selling in our onsite and online Shop to apply now. Shop applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and reviewed three times per year. Visit our website for more details on the application process and shop policies.
The Shop at CAC features handmade functional pottery and ceramic sculpture from regional and national makers. Ceramics collectors and enthusiasts across the United States form our customer base, and purchase from us throughout the year.
The Gallery at Clay Art Center
Ceramic artists are invited to submit proposals for exhibitions to be presented in the Gallery at Clay Art Center. Artists may apply for solo exhibitions, or groups of artists of two or more may apply together. Clay Art Center Gallery provides a platform for emerging and established artists to explore a wide range of topics that address materials, processes and techniques, and to engage in critical dialog through clay.
Gallery Proposals for the 2024 programming year are due by June 1st, 2022. Visit our website to learn more and submit a proposal.
Clay Art Center is committed to exhibiting a wide variety of work representing diverse backgrounds. Many notable ceramic artists such as Julia Galloway, Justin Novak and Tim Rowan had their first solo exhibitions at CAC, which propelled their careers. The gallery hosts several exhibitions annually, all open to the public and free of charge.
Artist in Residence Program
Our year-long residency program, which commences each year in September, is uniquely designed for emerging artists who need time and space to develop their voices. Residents receive a stipend, teaching opportunities and opportunities for a solo exhibition.

Clay Art Center’s nationally recognized artist in residence program was started in 1998 by Director Emeritus Reena Kashyap. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, the past two decades have seen over 50 young artists get the chance to launch their careers and find their voices.
National Call for Entry – “The Family Portrait” Exhibition, Juried by Kukuli Velarde
Our Call for Entry Exhibition in 2022 is "The Family Portrait". We invite artists to submit ceramic works that explore the meaning and definition of the family unit as image, as a system, as historical reference, or metaphor for where we are as a contemporary culture and society. Artists may submit functional or non-functional ceramic works that define what family means to them.
